Use a text editor to open and edit your files with Git.
The easiest way to install Git on a Mac is via the stand-alone installer: Download the latest Git for Mac installer. Follow the prompts to install Git. Open a terminal and verify the installation was successful by typing git --version: $ git --version git version 2.9.2. When you previously used git commit for committing the first hello.html version to the repository, you included the -m flag that gives a comment on the command line. - Download gitbook-mac.dmg
- Open the file
- Copy the Codebox application to your mac's Applications folder
- Open it and start working

- Download gitbook-linux32.tar.gz
- Extract it using:
tar -xvzf gitbook-linux32.tar.gz
- Run the installation script
cd GitBook && ./install.sh
- There is now a shortcut on your desktop
- Open it and start working
